A Seoul Central District Court has found former President Yoon Suk Yeol guilty of aiding the enemy and abuse of power. The court ruled that Yoon conspired to send military drones over Pyongyang in October 2024 to manufacture a national security crisis, which he later used as a pretext for his failed declaration of martial law. This sentence is in addition to a life term handed down in February for insurrection. The ruling reinforces the liberal administration of President Lee Jae-myung, who took office following Yoon's impeachment last year.
